Dungeon23 (Bonus): Temple of the Snake Cult Cross-Section

This map adapts icons by artist Delapouite available at game-icons.net, and are used here under the terms of the CC BY 3.0 license.

Levels 1-3: The Temple of the Snake Cult

This was once the mother Temple of the infamous Snake Cult until the mighty King Cyneric of Alkastra trampled the obscene serpent religion under his sandaled feet.  Its resurgence portends doom for the people of the Northern Marklands.

Levels 4-6: The True Temple

This inverted tower inside a cyclopean, underground rock formation is the home of the snake-men, their flesh-crafters, and the flesh-vats that vomit forth terrible beings into the world above.

Level 7: City of the Snake-Men

The ancient City of the Snake-Men is where many beings from the Underworld, such as the Deep Fey, which have remained Tiama’at’s loyal servants, meet in tenuous truce and trade.  This is no place for sun-kissed innocents from above, who are considered fit only for food, slaves, or stock for the flesh-vats.

Level 8: The Underwilds

This underground wilderness is made up of winding caverns, magma rivers, mega-fungal forests, and a Sea of Darkness where a mysterious Ovoid rests, exerting its insidiously foul influence above and below.

Level 9: The Ovoid From Beyond the Stars

Little is known about the Ovoid, whispered about in profane texts as the Egg of Khu'utlu, other than it is held sacred by the snake-men and the blind piscepithecans that guard it.  Any who may have gained knowledge of the inside of the Ovoid have undoubtedly lost it in the grips of madness and horror.

Level 10: The Wondrous Halls of the Wyrld-Makers

Those who make it this far underground may encounter unimaginable wonders from beyond the ken of man.  Many of these have been corrupted by the influence of the Ovoid.  Any who survive may come to learn the truth of the Wyrld and many others beyond.
